Welcome to Northern New Mexico’s first-ever balloon fiesta at the historic Los Luceros site,
where the vibrant culture, breathtaking landscapes, and close-knit community come together in celebration.
The Rio Grande Sky Fiesta invites you to be part of this exciting new tradition—
a weekend filled with adventure, fun, and unforgettable memories.
Watch the sky come alive as dozens of colorful hot air balloons rise over the Río Grande at dawn, followed by a spectacular Balloon Glow on Saturday night. This year’s fiesta includes the return of the beloved Zozobra balloon and features two launch windows each morning at 6:45 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. — weather permitting. Admission includes access to the historic Los Luceros site, home to vibrant culture, local vendors, and breathtaking views.
Join us for a weekend of culture, costumes, and curiosity. Saturday afternoon features the “Trick-or-Treat Through Los Luceros” passport adventure — complete with lowrider trunk-or-treat displays and a hands-on activity trail for kids. Children can collect stamps in a Sky Fiesta coloring and stamp booklet while learning about “Creatures & Phenomena of the Skies” from local partners like the Museum of International Folk Art, Celebrate Planet Earth, and community fire departments.
Tickets are $12 for Saturday and $10 for Sunday’s morning launch, with free admission for children under 12. Parking on site is $10 per vehicle, and free shuttle service is available from the Oñate Center and Ohkay Casino (north side). Volunteers, schools, and community organizations are encouraged to participate by hosting booths, helping with balloon launches, or supporting event activities.
